With the foundation of SAVE I have put a major personal concern into action. It all started with my first trip to Africa. Since that time, I am fascinated by the continent and especially by its unique nature. I realized quickly how threatened it is. The more I thought about it, the stronger became my desire to promote global nature and species conservation actively. Hence, SAVE was born. SAVE stands for the conservation of biodiversity in harmony with man, animals and nature. Together with my team, in respectful cooperation with other organizations, long-term partnerships with companie and the commitment of individuals I want to contribute to the conservation of our diverse ecosystems.

I was born in Zimbabwe and started researching brown hyenas in the Makgadikgadi Pans for my Ph.D. in biology in 2000. My passion is the nature and in particular the predators of Africa. I am strongly dedicated to the preservation of the African wilderness. Many different strategies and approaches are needed for its protection. A species should never be regarded in a separate way, because many factors and relationships play a role in their survival. Sustainable protection includes comprehensive basic research and problem analysis under participation of the local communities.
